These are the most-reported caller fraud patterns in Vietnam right now.
Callers impersonate Ministry of Public Security (MPS) or local police officers claiming you are under investigation for financial crimes. They demand you transfer money to a "safe account" for verification. Police in Vietnam never demand phone transfers. Report to the Ministry of Information and Communications hotline 156.
Fraudsters pose as bank staff claiming your account is at risk and request OTP codes sent to your phone. Vietnamese banks never call asking for OTPs. Hang up immediately and call your bank's official number to verify account status.
Automated messages or calls announce lottery winnings and ask you to pay taxes or fees before receiving your prize. Vietnam Lottery (Vietlott) does not contact winners by unsolicited phone call. Block and report such numbers to VNPT.
