Common Chinese phone scams

These are the most-reported caller fraud patterns targeting Chinese numbers right now.

Public Security Bureau Impersonation
HIGH RISK

Callers impersonate MPS (Ministry of Public Security) officers claiming you are under investigation for fraud or money laundering. They demand transfers to a "safe account." Chinese police never conduct investigations by phone or demand transfers. Report to the Ministry of Public Security anti-fraud line 96110.

Courier Package Fraud (Kuaidi Sagi)
HIGH RISK

Callers claim a package in your name contains contraband and has been intercepted. They threaten arrest unless you pay a "deposit" to prove innocence. No legitimate courier or customs service operates this way. Hang up and report to the National Anti-Fraud Center app.

Fake Loan / Credit Limit Upgrade Scam
MEDIUM RISK

Callers offer to increase your Alipay or bank credit limit requiring a small "verification" transfer to confirm your account. This is a social engineering trick to test whether you will comply. Block the number and report to your bank's official fraud hotline.

Frequently asked questions

Accessing publicly available carrier allocation data and community reports about phone numbers is consistent with China's Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) 2021 and MIIT regulations, for lawful informational purposes. Searqle does not access private subscriber records held by MIIT-licensed operators.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) manages number allocation and operator licensing. China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom are the three State-licensed mobile operators. The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) oversees anti-fraud telecommunications enforcement.
Report scam calls through the National Anti-Fraud Center app (全国反诈中心) or call the anti-fraud hotline 96110. For financial fraud, contact your bank immediately and file a police report at your local Public Security Bureau. You can also report to MIIT's 12381 hotline.
New users can start with a 7-day trial for just €1.00 — giving full access to Searqle’s core search capabilities. After the trial, plans start at €13.90/week (includes 4 search credits) or €34.90/month (includes 20 search credits). All plans include phone, email, and photo search.
Searqle supports three search types: phone number lookup, email address lookup, and reverse image (photo) search. Each draws from public records, social profiles, and community data to build a comprehensive identity report.
A full Searqle report can include: owner name, age, date of birth, profile photos, known aliases, phone numbers, email addresses, current and previous addresses, relatives and known associates, employer and education history, social media profiles, online presence signals, and data breach exposure details — depending on what is publicly available.
